BioHorizons Camlog, a Henry Schein company, is helping individuals in need by collecting more than £10,000 worth of items for Naomi House & Jacksplace, hospices supporting life limited and life threatened children, young adults, and families from central southern England*.

To secure the donations, the BioHorizons Camlog team participated in a “charity hustle,” an event organised by the corporate fundraising team at Naomi House & Jacksplace that challenges employees to work together by using their communication skills to acquire as many much-needed items as possible for the hospices.

The teams were split into two and given a list of essential items, both for the individuals in hospice and for prizes at future fundraising events. They contacted local shops and businesses, in-person, over the phone, and via email, to gather contributions. With each item allocated a set number of points based on its value or worth to the charity, the teams competed for the most points.

Over 80 items were acquired in one afternoon by the BioHorizons Camlog teams, including hospitality tickets to Liverpool F.C., Tottenham Hotspur F.C., and the British Grand Prix Moto GP 2023 – each to be used for fundraising. Other items included sensory and wellbeing products, arts and crafts, and toys and games for the care floor and families staying at the hospices.

“It has been an absolute pleasure to partner with BioHorizons Camlog, who have been supporting our hospices since 2014,” said Ella Clayton, Senior Fundraiser at Naomi House & Jacksplace. “It was brilliant to work with such a dedicated team who gave up their time to take part in this event and to help secure much-needed donated items for our charity. Thank you to everyone involved - you have truly gone above and beyond, and we are so grateful for your continued support.”

This initiative aligns with Henry Schein Cares, Henry Schein’s corporate social responsibility programme. Henry Schein Cares stands on five pillars: empowering Team Schein to reach their potential, advancing health equity and expanding access to care for underserved communities, accelerating environmental sustainability, strengthening, and diversifying our supply chain, and maintaining strong ethical governance. Health care activities supported by Henry Schein Cares focus on four main areas:

(1) wellness, treatment, prevention, and education;

(2) capacity building;

(3) emergency preparedness and disaster response; and

(4) health system strengthening.

“Our team enjoyed participating in the ‘charity hustle’,” said Naomi Pleasants, Marketing Manager, BioHorizons Camlog, UK. “It encouraged team building and healthy competition, all whilst supporting a great cause. At BioHorizons Camlog, we believe that every person is as important as the next and giving back to individuals in our community is extremely important to us.”
